The majority of ransomware attackers penetrate networks and gain access to vital systems and data for businesses through one of three main vectors. When compared to the prior year, both the use of malicious programmes and emails decreased as a percentage of total attacks, however the use of compromised accounts grew from 18% in 2021.
According to Kaspersky’s recently released report, “The Nature of Cyber Incidents,” the most significant vector in successful ransomware attacks in 2022 involved the exploitation of public-facing applications, which accounted for 43% of all breaches, followed by the use of compromised accounts (24%) and malicious email (12%).
