Alert New Stealthy "RustDoor" Backdoor Targeting Apple macOS Devices

A new Rust-based backdoor named RustDoor is targeting Apple macOS users since November 2023, disguising itself as a Microsoft Visual Studio update. The malware includes various commands for file gathering, uploading, and endpoint information harvesting, with multiple variants suggesting ongoing development. Bitdefender links RustDoor to ransomware families Black Basta and BlackCat due to shared command-and-control infrastructure, noting the latter’s takedown by the U.S. government in December 2023.
