ATTACKERS CAN DISCOVER IP ADDRESS BY SENDING A LINK OVER THE SKYPE MOBILE APP

A security researcher revealed how to send a link using the Skype mobile app to find a target’s IP address. By delivering a link over the Skype mobile app, security researcher Yossi discovered that it is feasible to learn a target’s IP address. The researcher emphasized that all the target must do to be attacked is open the message. Only the Skype mobile app is impacted by the issue.
Threat actors may be able to locate the target’s physical location with the use of the IP address, endangering their privacy, security, and safety. Yossi reported the problem to Microsoft earlier this month, according to 404 Media, but it appears that the corporation originally downplayed the issue and made no indication that it planned to address it.
