BlackCat: A New Rust-based Ransomware Malware Spotted in the Wild

MalwareHunterTeam revealed the ransomware, called BlackCat. In a series of tweets revealing the fileencrypting malware, the researchers stated, “Victims can pay using Bitcoin or Monero.” “It also appears that they are providing credentials to middlemen” for the purposes of negotiations.
BlackCat, like many other ransomware variants that have appeared before it, works as a ransomwareasaservice (RaaS), with the core developers recruiting affiliates to breach corporate environments and encrypt files, but not before stealing the documents in a double extortion scheme to pressure the targets into paying the requested amount or risk having the stolen data exposed if they refuse to pay up.
