In a recent story, David Schtz, a bug bounty hunter, goes into great detail about his months-long battle with Google over what he believed to be a critical security flaw in Android.
Schtz claims that in June 2022, completely by accident and in real-world circumstances that could have happened to anyone, he discovered a total Android lockscreen bypass flaw. Therefore, it was considerably more likely than normal that the defect would be discovered and publicly disclosed as a zero-day hole. This is because it was fair to expect that other people might learn about the flaw without purposefully looking for problems.
