DDoS attack took large sections of a Belgiums internet offline

A massive distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack knocked out the websites of over 200 Belgium organisations, including the government, parliament, universities, and research institutes.
Belnet, the government-funded ISP provider for the country’s educational institutions, research centres, scientific institutes, and government services – including government ministries and the Belgium parliament – was the target of the attack.
