DeadBolt affected QNAP network-attached storage (NAS) devices, with Censys estimating that roughly 5,000 out of 130,000 internet-connected machines “exhibited the telltale indications of this specific form of ransomware.”
Customers reported on the QNAP website that the forced firmware update last week blocked a number of difficulties, including the ability to use the decryption key they got after paying the extortion.
