Election Officials Plead for Federal Cybersecurity Funding

Before the next election cycle, local election authorities and security experts pleaded with the U.S. Congress to allocate more funds for improved cybersecurity measures, alerting them to serious resource limitations that may jeopardize election security across the country.
The Senate Committee on Rules and Administration heard testimony from secretaries of state and election administrations from Arizona, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, and Tennessee on Wednesday. In addition to having insufficient physical security measures and antiquated voting technology, election systems are underfunded and vulnerable to nationwide cybersecurity threats, they claimed.
