Emotet Adopts the Trend for OneNote Infection

Microsoft began releasing updates to automatically block macros in downloaded Word and Excel documents at the beginning of this year. OneNote documents are now being misused by a number of harmful threats, such as Formbook, QakBot, and other malware. OneNote papers are now the target of malicious spam campaigns from Emotet.
Researchers from Malwarebytes have recently discovered that Emotet operators are now disseminating the malware using Microsoft OneNote files. They are employing their tried-and-true reply-chain email assault strategy, posing as bills, how-to manuals, and employment references.
