FBI Alerts Retail Businesses of Phishing Attacks Targeting Gift Card Systems

cybercriminal group called STORM-0539 are sending smishing texts to retail employees in the hopes of stealing their login credentials. Once they have that information, they can use it to get into the company’s computer network.They use special tools to bypass security measures and hunt for the gift card system. If they find it, they can create brand new fake gift cards using the stolen employee credentials. It’s like having a free shopping spree – but funded by the retailer!
