Iranian cyber threat group APT42, also known as Charming Kitten, has intensified its phishing and social engineering attacks targeting U.S. presidential election figures and Israeli military and political figures. Google’s Threat Analysis Group reported that APT42 has attempted to compromise the personal email accounts of individuals affiliated with President Biden, former President Trump, and Vice President Kamala Harris. The group has also targeted Israeli diplomats, defense personnel, and NGOs using various phishing tactics. The attacks are seen as retaliation for recent military conflicts involving Israel and the U.S., and are expected to continue as regional tensions rise.
