Google Patches 25 Android Flaws, Including Critical Privilege Escalation Bug

Google has released patches for 25 security vulnerabilities in the Android operating system, including a critical flaw in the Framework component (CVE-2024-31320) affecting Android versions 12 and 12L that allows privilege escalation. The 2024-07-01 security patch addresses this and seven other high-severity issues, while the 2024-07-05 patch resolves 17 vulnerabilities in components from Kernel, Arm, Imagination Technologies, MediaTek, and Qualcomm. Devices with the 2024-07-05 security level include all 25 patches. Users are urged to update their devices promptly. No new patches were issued for Android Automotive, but it includes the 2024-07-05 fixes. Google’s security bulletin for Pixel devices is pending, following a similar delay in June.
