According to information released by Google last week, it has prevailed in a lawsuit brought against two Russian citizens over the management of the Glupteba botnet. Along with 15 other individuals, the defendants are charged with deploying the virus to set up a network of compromised devices used for cryptocurrency mining.
The defendants’ U.S.-based attorneys and themselves were subject to financial penalties from the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Also demanded from the defendants are the legal costs incurred by Google. Sanctions against Google requested by the defendants were rejected.
