Google on Thursday unveiled new AI-powered security controls for its Workspace users that focus on threat defense, zero trust, and digital sovereignty. Google AI may now be used to automatically and continually classify and label new and existing files, and then apply relevant controls based on the organization’s security standards, to ensure data protection and prevent unauthorized sharing of data in Google Drive.
The ability to define precise requirements that must be completed before a user can share sensitive content in Drive will be made possible by context-aware DLP restrictions and will be made available in preview later this year. According to Google, the new AI-powered zero trust capabilities are designed to give enterprises more precise control over how data is accessed and utilized.
