Google has collaborated with the Create Lab at Carnegie Mellon University to add time-lapse videos to Google Earth, which the company claims is the most significant update to the site since 2017.
Time-lapse was created using 24 million satellite images from the past 37 years — from 1984 to 2020 — before being compiled into an immersive 4D experience, according to Rebecca Moore, Earth Engine and Outreach director of Google Earth.
