Web 3.0 has been a concept since the turn of the millennium. The new web should strengthen Web 2.0’s shortcomings, including featureless content, the prevalence of proprietary solutions, and a lack of security in a centralised user data storage environment where a significant data leak is likely should just one server be attacked.
The “new internet” will, sadly, continue to serve as a haven for criminals who will use cutting-edge tools for their time-honored hobbies of data theft, financial fraud, and other similar activities. I’ll focus on how they employ the distributed file system IPFS, one of WEB 3.0’s technologies, for email phishing attempts in this essay.
