India scraps privacy bill following big tech outcry

India has shelved its contentious data protection and privacy bill, which alarmed major digital businesses, with the intention of creating a new legislation in its place.
According to Reuters, the Personal Data Protection Bill, which was first put up in 2019, included regulations on international data flows and explored giving the Indian government the authority to request user data from businesses. Read More…
