The Threat Intelligence Report also notes an increase in trojans that target personal banking information on mobile devices, which now make up 9% of all infections, in addition to the surge in botnet-driven DDoS attacks. This increase in hostile activity, which was first noted during the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, has since expanded to several places around the world, jeopardising important infrastructure and services outside of telecom networks.
The worrisome rise of IoT botnet DDoS attacks on telecom networks throughout the world is highlighted in a recent research from Nokia’s Threat Intelligence Centre. According to the survey, these attacks have increased fivefold over the previous year as a result of hackers taking advantage of unsecured IoT devices and profit-driven hacking collectives.
