KeRanger, FileCoder, MacRansom, and EvilQuest are four ransomware families that Microsoft has identified as having an effect on Apple macOS systems. Another option is for it to arrive as a second-stage payload that is delivered by malware that already resides on the infected host or as part of a supply chain attack.
