Mirai Variant V3G4 Exploiting IoT Devices for DDoS Attacks

Similar to the original Mirai botnet, V3G4 attacks IoT devices by taking advantage of default usernames and passwords for data login.

In October 2016, numerous significant DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) assaults against Dyn DNS were launched by the famed Mirai virus. Palo Alto Networks’ Unit 42 IT security experts have discovered a new strain of this malware.

It is a particular class of malware known by researchers as V3G4 that targets Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Similar to the original Mirai botnet, V3G4 attacks IoT devices by taking advantage of default usernames and passwords for data login.
