Customers are urged to update their devices to the most recent available firmware as soon as possible after Netgear resolved a high-severity vulnerability impacting several WiFi router models. Without the need for user participation or permissions, attackers can take advantage of this vulnerability in low-complexity attacks.
Multiple Wireless AC Nighthawk, Wireless AX Nighthawk (WiFi 6), and Wireless AC router models are affected by the bug. Although Netgear withheld details regarding the component impacted by this problem or its effects, it did state that it was a pre-authentication buffer overflow vulnerability.
