New P2PInfect Worm Targeting Redis Servers on Linux and Windows Systems

Peer-to-peer (P2P) worm named P2PInfect that targets vulnerable Redis instances for further exploitation has been discovered by cybersecurity experts. Up to 934 different Redis systems are thought to be at risk from this vulnerability. On July 11, 2023, P2PInfect was discovered for the first time.
According to William Gamazo and Nathaniel Quist, researchers at Palo Alto Networks Unit 42, “P2PInfect exploits Redis servers running on both Linux and Windows Operating Systems making it more scalable and potent than other worms.” The programming language Rust, which is very scalable and cloud-friendly, is also used to create this worm.
