Suspected North Korean nation-state actors used a social engineering effort including a malicious Android app to target a journalist in South Korea. Interlab, a South Korean non-profit organisation, discovered this information and gave the new malware the moniker RambleOn.
On December 7, 2022, a WeChat message was sent to a journalist asking for a confidential talk about a delicate subject. The sender suggested utilising the Fizzle messenger software when the subject of secure communications came up during the conversation.
