Following its first rollout to Chrome Canary in October, Google has added passkey support to Chrome’s stable version. Passkeys, intended to replace the usage of passwords, which are easily cracked, authenticate users via biometric verification.
Passkeys can be used with websites and programmes and can be synced between devices, but they cannot be reused or leaked. Passkeys function on all platforms. Passkeys give the same user experience as password autofill but with the added benefit of passwordless authentication, removing the dangers of phishing and using bad passwords.
