Pirated Final Cut Pro for macOS Offers Stealth Malware Delivery

It’s possible that those using illegal torrents to download Apple’s Final Cut Pro video editing software received more than they bargained for. An unidentified threat actor has been distributing the XMRig bitcoin mining programme on systems belonging to users of the app for at least the last few months using a pirated version of the macOS operating system.
The security provider discovered that the person who initially uploaded the weaponized version of Final Cut Pro for torrent sharing is someone with a multiyear track record of uploading pirated macOS software using the same cryptominer.
