Potential Outcomes of the US National Cybersecurity Strategy

The Biden administration’s National Cybersecurity Strategy was released on March 1, 2023. This is not an executive order; rather, it is the administration’s plan for how it would direct the development of cybersecurity on a national scale. Although it may be idealistic in certain ways, the administration has some power. In the end, it has considerable power over a large portion of the country’s business infrastructure.
The only thing the federal government can do is order federal agencies to do something. Without the consent of Congress, it cannot impose those wishes on a national scale. In politically polarised times, particularly in the lead-up to a presidential election, this is challenging — not impossible, but challenging. Because of this, it is necessary to view the National Cybersecurity Strategy as the administration’s ultimate wish list.
