Researchers Uncover New BGP Flaws in Popular Internet Routing Protocol Software

A software implementation of the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) has flaws that might be exploited by hackers to impose a denial-of-service (DoS) condition on vulnerable BGP peers, according to cybersecurity researchers. The three flaws are included in FRRouting version 8.4, a well-liked open source internet routing protocol suite for Linux and Unix platforms.
It is being utilised by numerous vendors, including NVIDIA Cumulus, DENT, and SONiC, bringing threats to the supply chain. The discovery was made as a result of Forescout Vedere Labs’ examination of seven different BGP implementations, including Mikrotik RouterOS, BIRD, OpenBGPd, Juniper JunOS, Cisco IOS, and Arista EOS.
