The data protection regulator has penalized a former NHS secretary for gaining unauthorized access to more than 150 people’s medical records.According to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the first complaint was filed in June 2019 when a patient expressed worries that Redditch resident Loretta Alborghetti had inappropriately accessed their documents.
Alborghetti was employed by Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust as a medical secretary in the ophthalmology department. However, a subsequent ICO investigation discovered that she had accessed this specific person’s details 33 times without authorization between March 2019 and June 2019.
