SentinelLabs uncovers new CapraRAT spyware targeting Android users

A new report from SentinelLabs reveals a resurgence of CapraRAT spyware, targeting mobile gamers and weapons enthusiasts through malicious Android apps. Originating from the Pakistan-linked group Transparent Tribe (APT36), CapraRAT has evolved from targeting Indian government personnel via fake dating apps to embedding spyware in video browsing apps. The latest four CapraRAT Android Package Kits—Crazy Game, Sexy Videos, TikToks, and Weapons—use social engineering to collect sensitive data by requesting extensive permissions. To avoid such threats, users should download apps from trusted sources like the Google Play Store and scrutinize app permissions.
