The Cyberspace Solarium Commission’s recommendations have guided the Biden administration’s efforts to bring about significant advancements in computer security since their release in 2020, but a report released on Tuesday indicates that some of the panel’s major recommendations have stalled.
For federal cybersecurity policymakers, the remaining recommendations read like a to-do list: defining who is responsible for federal cyber response efforts, modernizing campaign regulations to support cybersecurity defenses, funding research and development centers to investigate cybersecurity insurance certificates, establishing congressional cybersecurity committees, and enacting a national breach notification law.
