White hat hackers demonstrated how to mimic an Apple device and deceive customers into disclosing their private data at the recent Def Con hacking conference.
According to Techcrunch, conference attendees using iPhones began to notice pop-up notifications asking them to sign in with their Apple ID or exchange a password with an Apple TV nearby. The communications were a part of a research project, according to the security researcher going by the name Jae Bochs on Mastodon.
