Twitter fixes security bug that exposed at least 5.4 million accounts

A security hole that allowed threat actors to collect information from 5.4 million Twitter accounts that were being sold on a well-known site for cybercrime has reportedly been patched, according to Twitter.�Anyone who entered a known user’s phone number or email address and checked to see if it was linked to an active Twitter account could have learned the identities of pseudonymous accounts.

The microblogging juggernaut claimed in a succinct statement released on Friday that “if someone submitted an email address or phone number to Twitter’s systems, Twitter’s systems would tell the person what Twitter account the submitted email address or phone number was associated with, if any.” Read More…
