Ukrainian Raccoon Infostealer Operator Extradited to US

Ukrainian national Mark Sokolovsky, the alleged operator of the Raccoon Infostealer malware-as-a-service, has been extradited from the Netherlands to the US. Sokolovsky faces charges, including conspiracy to commit computer fraud, wire fraud, money laundering, and aggravated identity theft, after the FBI dismantled the Raccoon Infostealer infrastructure in 2022, indicting him in October of the same year. The malware targeted millions of computers worldwide, stealing login credentials and financial data, with victims now able to check if their information is part of the dataset collected by the FBI.
