Sweden-based PiiGAB is a provider of hardware and software for industrial and building automation. For instance, the gadget is linked to PLCs, heat pumps, cooling units, and water and electricity metres. According to the experts, this indicates that this solution can be utilised to communicate with a sizable ecosystem of ICS devices.
As part of their master’s degree in cybersecurity at Radboud University in the Netherlands, researchers Floris Hendriks and Jeroen Wijenbergh evaluated the M-Bus 900s gateway/converter from PiiGAB in depth from a security perspective. The M-Bus protocol is used in the product to enable remote device monitoring.
