Current and former public service, RCMP, military members affected by data breach, federal government warns

The federal government is informing active and retired public servants, as well as members of the RCMP and Canadian Armed Forces, that a data breach that happened on October 19 may have allowed access to their personal and financial information. The federal government data held by SIRVA Worldwide Relocation & Moving Services and Brookfield Global Relocation Services (BGRS), two businesses that assist with employee relocation, is impacted by the incident.
According to the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, present and past employees and members who have migrated with BGRS or SIRVA Canada within the last 24 years would be offered credit monitoring or reissuing legitimate passports services that may have been compromised. To keep an eye on the situation, the federal government claims to be holding meetings with both moving service providers.
